Concert for Chile – March 24, Melkweg

We hardly left the Melkweg, and we’re already coming back for another gig. Which of course is awesome, only the reason why we’re playing is a little less awesome. On February 26, Chile has been struck by a severe earthquake, which sadly has killed hundreds and made thousands of people homeless. The damage is huge.

Organizer of this concert is Anneke van Giersbergen, who has a strong connection with this country. She is well known in South America, she played there several times with her former band The Gathering and the last few years with her band Agua de Annique. That’s why she felt she had to come into action, and organized this benefit.

All of the acts and their crews will be playing for free on this night, and the entire profit will be donated to Chile.

5 Days Off – Sencity rocked!

Friday March 5 I played at the Sencity night in de Melkweg during 5 Days Off. It took quite some preparation. My lyrics were being interpreted by signdancers that were on stage with me, and were also subtitled in extra visuals that were made for this particular gig. And as icing on the cake, there was a vibrating dancefloor, yummy snacks and an aroma jockey! This Sencity concept is developed for deaf and partially hearing people, its goal is to stimulate all senses.

I did an video interview with 5 Days Off TV and TMF that night. The TMF interview will be broadcasted in April (Kijk Dit Nou).

Krause @ 5 Days Off

On Friday March 5 Krause will be playing on electronic music festival 5 Days Off in de Melkweg, Amsterdam.

The gig is a part of the co-production with Sencity. All senses are stimulated at this party! With expressive dancers, a vibrating dance floor, taste sensations, video projections, light effects, sign interpreters and hairdressers the music event transforms in a overall experience, which also makes it for both deaf and hearing people a spectacular night out.

This concept especially appealed to me because I could link it to my rare form of synesthesia. I have a smell or scent association with every word I hear. You can read more about that weirdness right here. (in Dutch)

Come dressed as a pony = free entrance Stukafest Tilburg

This stuff is so funny I just had to dedicate a news post to it. On February 24 I’ll be playing at the closing party of Stukafest, in Studio in Tilburg. If you come dressed up as a pony, or if you bring your stokpaard (sorry I don’t know the English word for that, it’s a horse’s head on a stick. Not a real head. A plush head) you get in for free!

Entrance is 4 euros, so you probably won’t starve to death if you have to cough up that dough, but the thought of people coming dressed up as ponies just makes me pee my pants with laughter. And that might be something YOU would like to see! If you’re into golden showers, that is. I’m not. But I have a weak bladder when it comes to people dressed up as ponies. I’m gonna stop talking now.

Valentine’s Day. You know, the most disappointing day of the year. I never get any cards, gifts or serenades under my balcony. No roses, no chocolates, no poems, no eatable underwear…and all I can think is, I’m not that repulsive, am I?

But I’m taking command this year! This year I shall have a date on Valentine’s Day, and it could be you! Dinner and a movie at my expense, how does that sound?

The only thing you need to do is to write me a poem, consisting of at least 4 strophes. Make sure it’s original and incredibly romantic/sexy/funny/weird. The writer of the poem, male or female, that’s going to make my heart beat the fastest, is going on a date with me on Sunday February 14.

Video Krause in Valencia

In January we went to Valencia to give them Spaniards a kick in the krause. RTV Noord gave us a camera to record all of our sensational adventures over there. ‘I Want A Pony’ video out now!!!

As a lot of you may already know, I’ve finished the video for ‘I Want A Pony’ this weekend. About three months ago I’ve sent out a request to record a video of yourself while you were screaming along the lyrics for I Want A Pony as hysterical as you could. I made a YouTube group for this, and I’ve got a lot of entries. I’ve edited them all into one music video for the track. The result turned out hilarious*, and the most amazing fact is my fans are starring in it!
